![]() ![]() Lots of hidden fees (did you account for that bud ride to the ferry on the evening of day 7 of your trip?) Constantly having to be ‘on’ to not look too tourist-y. Young people can travel and enjoy it but the world is the world sadly. Arguably, the worst part is when you get off your international flight at an unholy time and have to figure all that out. There really is a ‘mental toll or labor’ for lack of a better term always having to remember to have directions, cab info (haggling for said cab bc locals just rip tourists off), hotel info, addresses, forms etc that I will always love another individual to handle for me. I am so happy I was detailed, but boy was my 1.5 month trip apart time job to plan. Solo pros: pace you like, accommodations you prefer, locations of things you like, can join groups for day trips, cost efficient, flexibilityĬons: I am a planner by nature, and it was exhausting. Let me weigh the pros and cons of both having done both:ĮF: amazing guides, group to travel with, hotels/hostels are vetted, transportation, a lump package, payment plans, airport transfers (pending your purchase flights through them, some meals included, safety in guide/numbers, ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’ about some locations/not missing out.ĮF Cons: more expensive, too fast for some, only American/Canadian travelers, group size TLDR Should I use EF Ultimate break to plan Euro trip for me and my husband and pay more or plan every detail myself and save money? And the idea of having to plan transportation between cities and all seems like a headache, but perhaps if cost is cut significantly enough it's worth it? What do you recommend? Pay for a company like EF Ultimate break? Or plan our own trip? I'm not sure where to begin as far as planning. But if that's the best way to experience a trip to Europe, I'm willing to save up for it. ![]() It would seem very optimal if I were going by myself, but I'd be going with my husband and that becomes very pricey and a little complicated as we'd probably have to pay more to be able to room together. So I've been considering using EF ultimate break where they will plan the entire trip for you, you're in a group, and there's a guide. just to say that I went and smelled Italian air. I don't want to just buy a ticket to spend some pathetic 5 days with no sense of direction of what to do, where to go, etc. I want to go SO bad but I also want to go the "right" way if that makes sense.
